Alexander McCall, dressed in a black shirt and with his arms crossed, gives a soft smile on a sunny day.

Most people call me Alex.

I'm a writer, journalist and editorial leader with more than a decade of experience in media and communications. I specialize in shaping meaningful stories and building audiences across platforms.

Over the years, I’ve reported and produced everything from local newscasts to nationally recognized podcasts. My work includes launching, editing and marketing shows at NPR and CNN; writing a daily morning newsletter for thousands of readers during the COVID-19 pandemic; and managing content strategy for global organizations tackling some of humanity’s most complex challenges.

The throughlines in my work: Clarity, purpose and trust.

I believe in content that respects the audience, in editorial systems that elevate smart ideas and in storytelling as a way of understanding the world. Whether I’m writing, editing, problem-solving or building something from the ground up, I’m guided by the same fundamentals: empathy, precision, care for language — and above all, a strong point of view.

I grew up in North Carolina and now live in Austin, Texas, where I split time between my professional work, personal writing and my side gig coaching indoor cycling at Equinox. Otherwise, you’ll probably find me reading a book, drinking coffee or goofing off with my husband
and our Labrador Retriever, Charlie Brown.
